In May 1984 His Excellency, Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, the Supreme Chancellor of the University, announced the opening of a Faculty of Medicine. Remarkably, only two years later, the first cohort of medical students entered the new medical school; another major promise of the Chancellor’s vision was achieved when they began medical practice in 1994.

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has a well-established undergraduate medical program. It also offers a Masters in Medical Sciences. The PhD programme will commence shortly.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences comprises basic science and clinical departments. The Medical Education Department oversees many aspects of the medical curriculum.
Research is a priority in terms of the United Arab Emirates University's mission. FMHS researchers continue to contribute significantly to the research output of the UAEU.
The Clinical Affairs section oversees the links between FMHS and hospitals. There are two primary teaching hospitals in Al Alin where our medical students learn.
Student Affairs plays a major role in supporting students during their medical studies. The office of the Associate Dean for Student & Alumni Affairs is located on the 3rd floor of the Administration building.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences organizes various international and domestic conferences, CME events and workshops, and other events related to medicine.
