Michal Grivna, MD PhD MPH joined the department in August 2003 and is a specialist in injury epidemiology, child injury prevention and safe community promotion. 

Previously, Dr. Grivna was Director of the Centre for Childhood Injury Epidemiology and Prevention at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic (from 1997 to 2003), Assistant Professor of the Charles University Institute of Public Health and Preventive medicine (1989 to 2003), National Coordinator for the WHO Safe Community Program (1996 to present), and Chairman of the Czech Paediatric Society National Childhood Injury Prevention Board (1994 to present).
