On behalf of the entire Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University, I extend a warm invitation to participate in the Second Scientific Conference for Medical Students in the GCC Countries to be held in Al Ain, from January 25 to 28, 2004. After the outstanding First Scientific Conference hosted by the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain, UAEU medical students returned to Al Ain highly motivated to make the Second Scientific Conference even more successful, if that were possible! Following the example of AGU students, they have committed themselves to developing a scientific, cultural and social program that will showcase excellence in scientific advances and student research projects. Al Ain, beautiful City of Oases, is the birthplace of UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, who led the Emirates to nationhood in 1971. On the border with the Sultanate of Oman, Al Ain's geography, geology and archeology are certain to fascinate. Visitors feel immediately at home with friendly hospitality typical of the region. The city boasts a rich history and is the home of the national UAE University, founded with Sheik Zayed's guidance in 1976. The Medical School, site of the Scientific Conference, was established in 1986 and has occupied its customized modern facilities since 1997. The Scientific Conference first and foremost will be an occasion for students: students sharing experiences and ideas, investigating the best use of technology developments in teaching and in research, exploring how scientific research can be applied to improve diagnosis, enhance treatment and reduce human suffering, students enjoying social and cultural events. UAEU students will take a leadership role in all of the Conference events and are eager to host this prestigious event. While
this invitation is directed primarily to our neighbors in the Arabian
Gulf, the participation of medical students from further a field will be
most welcome. They are sure to find the science outstanding and the
United Arab Emirates experience truly charming and memorable. |
